What the heck is Microblading?!
Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo. Each hair stroke is manually applied one by one with a hand tool (a micro blade) to give the look of natural-looking eyebrow hair.
Does Microblading hurt?
Some can find it, just a bit! I use two types of numbing gels on the treated area. Pain is minimal.
Does the technician have certification?
I have completed Illinois Microblading & Shading 100 Hour Fundamental Training Program. I have completed a Blood-borne Pathogens certification. I am also a member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and my studio has passed inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Is Microblading safe?
Of course! If you're seriously considering this service, please do your research. It is important your microblader has the required certification and also that the salon has passed the rigorous demand of the Illinois Department of Public Health's requirements. At The Brow Boutique we cut no cost and use all disposable tools, the highest-quality pigment, and take pride in maintaining a clean studio for the safety of our clients.
Can I get Microblading if I have health issues or am on medication?
You have to get clearance from your doctor before getting Microblading, should you be taking any medication or have a condition that may jeopardize the effectiveness of the procedure.
How long does Microblading last?
Microblading can last 12-18 months, depending on skin type, sun exposure, after care & skin regimen. We recommend annual touch ups to maintain color and shape.
How long does Microblading take?
The initial procedure, start to finish, will take about 2-3 hours.
How often do you have to get Microblading touched up?
We recommend getting Microblading touch ups every year. It all depends on how your skin holds the pigment and your preference.
How do I pick a color for Microblading?
I have a large variety of pigment: 15+ color options to choose from. I sample them against your skin to make sure it's a perfect match. I try to get as close to the color of your brows, so as to not be able to tell the difference between your brow hair and the microbladed strokes. You want to consider that the pigment fades 30-40% on average, when the new skin heals over the microblading.
I have no eyebrow hair. Am I a candidate?
Microblading can be ideal if you have no hair. Many clients have no hair from over-plucking or medical reasons. I am trained to design your eyebrows, based on your bone structure and eye placement, so having hair or lack-there-of, is not an issue.
I have a scar on my brow area, can I microblade over?
Yes, but scar tissue has a more difficult time gripping pigment. Some clients take the pigment well and others may need a few more sessions.
What is the down time after Microblading?
There is no down time after Microblading. Redness and swelling will go down after a few hours. There is a 10 day dry heal immediately after getting your service. We will go over after-care the day of your service, and you can find the after-care instructions on the 'pre&after care' tab.
How do I prepare for Microblading?
You want to avoid anything that can thin the blood including medication, alcohol and caffeine. You will want to discontinue fish oil and harsh skin regimens for at least two weeks before Microblading. If you tint your brows, you should do so a week before. You do not want to tint after, until Microblading is completely healed. If you get botox, we recommend getting it done at least 1-2 weeks before your appointment to make sure muscles have settled into place. You can read a full list of Pre-care and After-care instructions on the above-named tab.
Can I wear makeup the day of my appointment?
Yes, I clean off the area before beginning.
Can I work out or go swimming after Microblading?
No. This is a complete dry heal. I recommend not swimming, working out, or going in the sauna for ten days. You want to avoid sweat getting on the treated area for a week to avoid infection and fading.
Can I change the shape or color after my first Microblading session?
Yes, you can adjust color and shape at your follow up and touch up appointments. It is recommended that we start off minimal, which gives us the opportunity to darken, and thicken the shape at the touch-up service.
Do I have to be 18 to get Microblading done?
Microblading is technically a tattoo so it is required all clients are over 18 and have picture ID.
Can I get Microblading if I am pregnant or breast feeding?
No. You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
